Hands-Off Chicken Dinners
Slow Cooker Chicken Recipes
Chicken thighs are ideal for the slow cooker: they stay juicy through hours of gentle heat and soak up the sauce they cook in. Most of these recipes are close to dump and go, because the raw chicken and sauce go straight into the pot with no browning, and the only extra job is thickening the sauce or stirring in cream at the end.
Cook on LOW while you are out, then serve with rice, mashed potatoes, tortillas or buns. Every recipe also gives a HIGH setting for days when you start later.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I put frozen chicken in a slow cooker?
No. Thaw chicken in the fridge first. Frozen chicken can spend too long in the temperature range where bacteria multiply while the slow cooker heats up, so government food safety guidance recommends thawing it before slow cooking.
Is a crock pot the same as a slow cooker?
Yes. Crock-Pot is a brand of slow cooker, so any crock pot chicken recipe works in a slow cooker of a similar size, with the same LOW and HIGH settings.
Should I use chicken breasts or thighs in the slow cooker?
Thighs are more forgiving because they stay moist even if they cook a little longer than planned. Breasts dry out sooner, so check them at the start of the cooking window. White chicken chili works with either.
